Turkish club Beşiktaş defeated Serbia's Partizan Belgrade 2-1 in Istanbul on Thursday in the Europa League.


Thanks to two goals by Senegalese striker Demba Ba, in the 57th and 62nd minutes of play, Beşiktaş claimed the 3 points at Atatürk Olympic Stadium, in the fourth series of group stage matches of the Europa League on Thursday night.


Visitors Partizan managed to reduce the score thanks to Sasa Markovic with 12 minutes to go, but could not find the equalizer.


Meanwhile, in the same group C, English Premier League's Tottenham defeated Greek team Asteras Tripolis 2-1.


Scorers for the London team were Andros Townsend and Harry Kane. Asteras narrowed the gap thanks to a penalty converted by Jeronimo Barrales in the 90th minute. Moreover, Tottenham defender Federico Fazio was sent off.


Beşiktaş and Tottenham lead the group, tied with 8 points each.
