Galatasaray edge out Göztepe in Istanbul

Galatasaray beat Göztepe 1-0 in Super Lig match

Turkish football giants Galatasaray edged out Göztepe 1-0 in Istanbul late Sunday.

Galatasaray's winning goal was scored by Nigerian forward Henry Onyekuru in the 42nd minute of the game at Turk Telekom Stadium.

After this win in match week two in Spor Toto Super Lig, Galatasaray increased their points to six in the league table.

In the other match of the day, Besiktas toppled Buyuksehir Belediye Erzurumspor 3-1 in away match.

Besiktas defender Gokhan Gonul, striker Alvaro Negredo and winger Ricardo Quaresma were scorers for Black Eagles.

Erzurumspor's Jasmin Scuk playing as midfielder scored the only goal for his team.

Besiktas are leading the league with six points.

On Saturday, Istanbul based football heavyweights Fenerbahce got beaten by Evkur Yeni Malatyaspor 1-0 in an away game in Super Lig.

Home team Evkur Yeni Malatyaspor midfielder Danijel Aleksic scored the winning goal for his team in the 70th minute, which upset Fenerbahce.

Brazilian winger Guilherme crossed the ball inside the penalty box, Aleksic took the shot without trapping the ball. His vicious strike beat Fenerbahce goalkeeper Volkan Demirel.

Securing the narrow lead, Evkur Yeni Malatyaspor won the match 1-0 at Yeni Malatya Stadium.

Fenerbahce are on 10th position with three points.
