Turkey scores Euro taekwondo gold, silvers in Russia

In women's category, Turkey wins gold and silver, plus another silver in men's competition at World Taekwondo Europe

Turkey on Saturday bagged a gold and two silver medals on day three of the World Taekwondo Europe (WTE) European Championships, in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, in southwestern Russia.

Turkish taekwondo athlete Irem Yaman won a gold medal in the women’s 62-kg category by beating her Spanish opponent Marta Calvo Gomez 8-1, the federation said in a statement.

Yaman’s victory marked her second European championship in a row.

Separately, Muhammed Emin Yildiz beat his Croatian opponent Toni Kanaet 19-10 in the men’s 74-kg to claim the silver, the federation said.

The federation also announced another silver medal for Turkey by Nur Tatar Askari in the women's 67 kg category by besting her British opponent Lauren Williams 14-11.
