Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt has ended his eight-week football trial with Australia's Central Coast Mariners club.

"The Central Coast Mariners and Usain Bolt’s representative Ricky Simms can today advise that the indefinite training period of Usain Bolt with the Mariners has drawn to an end, effective immediately," the club said in a statement on Friday.

The club and the Jamaican sprinter could not find a commercial solution to keep him in the club, the statement said.

Bolt, 32, the winner of nine Olympic medals, joined the Australian club for a training period in August.

"I would like to thank the Central Coast Mariners owners, management, staff, players and fans for making me feel so welcome during my time there," said Bolt. "I wish the club success for the season ahead."
