Suspect who duped dozens by using FaceApp arrested in Ankara

The alleged conman altered his own photo on FaceApp to publish fake advertisements

Turkish security units arrested a suspect who allegedly scammed dozens of people on social media platforms by using the widely-used face-modifying tool "FaceApp" in the capital Ankara.

The alleged hustler, identified as Uğur. E., aged his own photo on the viral mobile application to gain the trust of victims for his online shopping scam.

He vanished after receiving money from his victims for products that don't even exist.

In the fake advertisements, he also used fake photos of a variety of products ranging from construction materials to army boots and gun holsters.

After insisting on his own innocence, the fraudster confessed to the scam saying: "What can i do? They shouldn’t have fallen for it. I did not force them to pay me."

The suspect has been sought for his involvement in 57 separate schemes, according to reports.
