A large number of tourists from Arab countries have started to book one-day round trip tickets to Turkey's Istanbul Airport just to purchase goods at the world's largest duty-free zone.
Turkey's giant new hub hosts customers that come from the Middle East via morning flights and leave in the evening after an extravagant day of shopping at duty-free stores, Ali Şenher, the CEO of Unifree Duty Free said.
"The visitors also purchase domestic brands that are more affordable," he said.
Inspired by the Bosporus Strait in its design, Istanbul's duty-free complex welcomes global passengers after they pass through passport control for international departures.
"All of our stores are currently occupied and a total of 27 globally-renowned companies are waiting in line to open their stores at the duty-free zone," Şenher said.
He also underlined that the year 2019 concluded with great success, hitting record sales.
Drawing the interests of customers with an impressive array of products, Istanbul Airport aims to reach a turnover of $900 million euros in 2020.
