At first glance, it may seem like science fiction, but giant flying mechanical herons are coming to life in the western French city of Nantes as part of local plans to construct. Built using 1,500 tonnes of steel, the mechanical tree will stand 35 metres tall and 50 metres wide and house 45 mechanical animals, including two flying herons that carry passengers, along with caterpillars, ants and spiders.
