An underwater camera video shows a giant squid, incredibly rare to see alive, cruising alongside a boat carrying a group of Japanese spectators on Christmas Eve. The massive orange and white squid was filmed swimming next to a boat's moorings in Toyama Bay on the west coast of Japan, according to Motherboard.Motherboard, an online magazine and video channel dedicated to the intersection of technology, science and humans, said that the squid reportedly measured 3.7 meters long and nearly one meter wide. Christopher Mah, a marine biologist based in Washington DC, posted his thoughts on Twitter. Mah believes it is only the third video recorded of a living giant squid. He suggested the usually deep-water creature was near the surface because it might be unwell.
