Assad regime airstrikes continue to devastate Eastern Ghouta; children suffocate under rubble

At least 1,337 civilians were killed in Syria's besieged Eastern Ghouta district in attacks by regime forces in 2017. Twenty-six civilians were killed on Monday in Syria's Eastern Ghouta as Assad forces intensify their attacks on the opposition-held area. Rescue workers free a Syrian child from the rubble after air strikes hit the region. Home to 400,000 inhabitants, Eastern Ghouta has been under siege since 2012.
