Chinese lanterns brighten up Brussels

A Chinese lantern show opened in the Belgian capital of Brussels on Thursday, lighting up the night with lanterns featuring both distinctive Chinese and Belgian elements. Colorful lanterns of varied shapes were characterized by patterns such as images of Peking Opera figures, Beijing's Temple of Heaven and the Atomium, a landmark building in Brussels. The lanterns came from Zigong City, the so-called "Lantern Town" of southwest China's Sichuan Province. The show was organized by the Mission of China to the European Union and the Chinese embassy to Brussels, and forms part of the 2018 EU-China Tourism Year. Many locals swarmed to enjoy the bright lights in the city center lantern show.
