Italian magistrates on Tuesday (November 20) accused charities operating the Mediterranean rescue ship Aquarius of illegally dumping toxic waste at various ports in southern Italy and ordered that the boat be impounded. Doctors without Borders (MsF) and SOS Mediterranee, which have sailed the Aquarius together since 2016 saving thousands of migrant lives, denied any wrong doing and accused Italy of seeking to criminalise humanitarian search and rescue missions.
