Thousands of protesters hit the streets in Iceland demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister, Sigmundur Gunnlaugsson, who was revealed in the leaked Panama Papers to have failed to declare his Wintris company when entering parliament in 2009, selling his share to his wife for $1. The connection was revealed in the Panama Papers, a leak of 11.5 million documents from a Panamanian law firm, Mossack Fonseca, that appear to show connections between world leaders, including Gunnlaugsson, and offshore shell companies. The protestor in Iceland called for Gunnlaugsson's resignation and a vote of no confidence from the country's parliament after the leaked information. But, despite the anger and the reaction against the Prime Minister, Gunnlaugsson refused to resign, saying no rules were broken.
