The world's biggest "tulip carpet" has been displayed by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in Sultanahmet Square of Istanbul. Covering 728 square meters on the historic square, the tulip carpet, made of 563,000 tulips, was viewed from air. The demonstration is part of the 11th annual Tulip Festival which enables parks, gardens and streets to become colorful and alive with tulips every April. Along with the huge carpet, a photography competition titled "En Güzel Lale" (The Most Beautiful Tulip) and other events are held during this special period.
