Fans overran the Ahmadu Stadium in Kaduna on Friday to watch Nigeria's crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt. An estimated 40,000 supporters packed into the 25,000-capacity venue, as their team drew 1-1. Nigeria is likely to receive sanctions from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), for allowing the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna to become overcrowded. Fans have been injured and killed in stampedes at overcrowded matches before. Most recently in 2012, 74 people were killed and over 500 injured when a fight broke out in an overcrowded stadium in Port Said, Egypt.
