A long-nosed human silhouette appeared to materialize in the skies of Istanbul during a magnificent thunderstorm that shook the city on Saturday night. Such formations appear as the result of something called “convective inhibition,” which correlates to the amount of energy required to lift the negatively buoyant energy the environment exerts on an air parcel.
