The world's oldest trees: 2,600-year-old 'El Alerce Abuelo'

One of the largest and oldest trees in the world, "El Alerce Abuelo" in Argentina is approximately 2,600 years old. Located at the Los Alerces National Park in the Andes in Chubut province, El Alerce Abuelo is among the longest-living population of Alerce trees (Fitzroya cupressoides), a conifer endemic to South America. The tree is nearly 60 meters tall and 3 meters dbh (the diameter of the trunk).
