Daesh terrorist organization used Russian-made “Katyusha" rocket launchers in Thursday night's attack on Turkish military in Bashiqa camp near terrorist-held Mosul in northern Iraq, according to security sources.

In an earlier attack in mid-December on the same camp, the group also used Russian-made rocket launchers, which injured four Turkish shoulders.

Who provides the weapons to the terrorists?

Katyusha multiple rocket launchers are a type of rocket artillery first built and fielded by the Soviet Union in World War II.

Some sources said the Bashar al-Assad regime could have provided these Russian rockets to the terrorist group, while some others claimed the rockets may have been provided by Russian government as the militant group began using these weapons after November's warplane crisis between Turkey and Russia.

No casualties were reported from yesterday's attack. The Turkish military killed 17 Daesh militants in a counter-attack.

The sources said the terror group flew a drone over the military base before the attack, but the brigade recognized it and began tracking it.

Military follow-up showed the attacks had been launched from the Hayl Saddam neighborhood, 8 kilometers south of the camp.
