European Union and British chief Brexit negotiators began talks on Britain leaving the EU on Monday, stressing the need to quickly tackle uncertainties and underlining their constructive attitude to reach a deal that is good for all.
The European Union's Michel Barnier said he hoped the talks, starting almost a year to the day after a British referendum vote to leave the EU, would establish a timetable to which the negotiations would be conducted.
Britain's Brexit minister David Davis, noting there were more things uniting the EU and Britain than dividing them, said London wanted a deep and special relationship and that he would talk in a positive and constructive tone.
