Floods and landslides caused by monsoon rains have killed nearly 570 people across India this month, the country’s Interior Ministry said on Monday.

In a statement, the ministry said the monsoon rains affected nearly the whole country, killing 569 people since the beginning of July.

The ministry warned people that further downpours expected over the next several days.

People living near rivers in danger of bursting their banks have been evacuated, local media reported.
