German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has told U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in a phone call on Tuesday that any further steps on the INF nuclear treaty must be closely coordinated with European partners, a German ministry official said.
The call followed a separate phone conversation between Maas and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg on Monday, in which the two agreed that NATO's members should discuss the future of the Cold War treaty known as the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF), the official said.
