Hundreds of neo-Nazis including violent offenders are on the run in Germany, new figures have revealed.

Data obtained by German press agency DPA showed police lost track of 467 far-right extremists, who have been sought for various crimes, including fraud, insults or violent offences.

Nearly 100 arrest warrants issued for politically-motivated crimes and a dozen arrest warrants issued for far-right-motivated violent offenses could not be executed yet, the Federal Criminal Police Office has confirmed.

Germany’s opposition parties have long criticized the government for not taking serious measures against right-wing extremists.

A neo-Nazi group, formed by three extremists who lived underground, killed at least eight Turkish citizens, a Greek immigrant and a German policewoman between 2000 and 2007.

The murders by the National Socialist Underground (NSU) have remained unresolved.
