The Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad and its backer Russia continue to conduct airstrikes on Idlib and Aleppo provinces of northern Syria.

Scores of civilians, including children and women, were killed during the recent airstrikes.

In Aleppo, the airstrikes targeted al-Salehen, al-Mashad and al-Suqqari neighborhoods, where 15 civilians, including women and children, were killed.

Currently, more than 300,000 civilians residing in Aleppo are facing death threats due to the airstrikes targeting opposition-controlled neighborhoods of the city.

Meanwhile, the Free Syrian Army , backed by Turkey, is launching a new phase in Operation Euphrates Shield to liberate another one of Aleppo's districts, Al-Bab.

Russia and the ssad regime are known to bomb Aleppo, the Syrian province located 50 kilometers from Turkey, with barrel and phosphorus bombs.

Despite the Syrian regime's denials, it was proved more than once by the independent commissions that Assad has been using chemical weapons since 2013.

Last week, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has strongly condemned the Assad regime over using chemical weapons for the first time after its three-year-long violations.

The civil war in Syria has killed more than 250,000 people, according to the United States, while the Syrian Center for Policy Research, an NGO, has put the total death toll from conflict at more than 470,000.
