Chin's People's Liberation Army has conducted a successful test of one of the Russian S-400 Triumf (NATO reporting name SA-21 Growler) air defense system, which was delivered in May 2018, according to reports.
During the test, the S-400 was reported to have shot down a ballistic target almost 250 kilometers away, moving at a speed of about 3 kilometers per second.
Beijing signed a $3 billion contract with Russia in 2015 to buy air defense systems.
Chinese authorities have yet to comment on the report.
The S-400 is Russia's most advanced long-range anti-aircraft missile system, with the ability to carry three types of missiles capable of destroying targets, including ballistic and cruise missiles.
