Sudan’s ruling transitional military council is lifting restrictions on the media, the Information Ministry said in statement on Sunday.

The move came days after the ouster of Sudan's longtime leader Omar al-Bashir, with rule going to a military council pledging a two-year transitional period before elections.

The statement confirmed that blocked international media offices and reporters would be allowed to resume working as well as the end of censorship of local media and newspapers.

Separately, a second consultation meeting to discuss the formation of a new government is set for Sunday, sources from the opposition alliance told Anadolu Agency.

Opposition parties are to submit a list of names to take part in a transitional council to be formed between the military and the opposition, said the anonymous sources.

The opposition and military held the first such meeting on Saturday.

The Change and Freedom opposition alliance has insisted that the military council dissolve the ruling party, security organs, and government militias as key steps for dissolving Sudan’s “deep state.”
