Nasdaq opens higher with tech support in US

VIX volatility index down 2% increasing investors' appetite for tech stocks

The Nasdaq opened with gains on Monday as decline in volatility and Treasury yields has pushed technology companies' stocks higher.

The tech-heavy index was up 86 points, or 0.6%, to 13,298 points at 9.45 a.m. EDT (1345GMT) with Tesla soaring 4.6%, while Intel and Airbnb adding more than 2% each.

The Dow Jones was down 25 points, or 0.1%, to 32,602 at the time, but the SP 500 was up 8 points, or 0.2%, to 3,922.

After posting consecutive weeks of increase, the 10-year Treasury yields was down 2.3% to below 1.7% mark.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, was also down 2% to 20.52 that increased investors' appetite for tech stocks.

While Bitcoin was just below $57,000 level, other cryptocurrencies were up by between 5-20% each.
