Victim, 13-year-old Hamza al-Hams, killed by Israeli army in Rafah, medical source tells Anadolu

A Palestinian child was killed Wednesday by Israeli army gunfire in the city of Rafah, southern Gaza Strip, despite a ceasefire in place between Hamas and Israel, Anadolu has learned.

The victim, 13-year-old Hamza al-Hams, was shot dead by the Israeli army in Rafah, said a medical source at the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis.

Israeli forces opened fire on the child in the Al-Awda area of Rafah, injuring him, witnesses said, adding that he was transferred to hospital where he succumbed to his wounds

Earlier, two Palestinians were killed—one by Israeli army gunfire in the Shouka area east of Rafah, and another who succumbed to wounds sustained on the first day of the ceasefire agreement.

The first six-week phase of the ceasefire agreement took hold in Gaza on Jan. 19, halting Israel's war that killed more than 47,500 people and left the enclave in ruins.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
