Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz on Wednesday held talks with Turkish members of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, a delegation from which is currently visiting Saudi Arabia.

The talks reportedly addressed the prospects for stepped-up coordination between the western alliance and the oil-rich kingdom.

Turkish members of the NATO delegation included Ahmet Berat Conkar and Ertan Aydin, two MPs from Turkey’s Justice and Development (AK) Party; and Metin Lutfi Baydar, a lawmaker from Turkey’s opposition Republican People's Party (CHP).

From the Saudi side, talks were attended by Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir and Interior Minister Abdul Aziz bin Saud bin Nayef, along with other senior officials.

Since Monday, Saudi Arabia has been hosting meetings of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and its partners.

Comprised of representatives from NATO’s 28 member-states, the assembly generally meets in the spring and autumn to formulate policy recommendations.
