Calls for the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) operation to extend beyond the borders of Syria’s Afrin intensified after the U.S. announced its plans to form what it called a “Border Security Force” made up of 30,000 terrorists from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK)’s Syrian offshoot, the PYD, in a bid to create a so-called state for terrorists in northeastern Syria.

A Turkish army operation that clears Tal Abyad from PKK/PYD terrorists would represent a glimmer of hope for over 1.8 million Syrian victims, 400,000 of whom who were forced from their homes by PKK terrorists.

Additionally, it would break the terror corridor in half, leaving the PKK-occupied town of Ayn al-Arab, which was seized by terrorists under the pretext of Daesh and later renamed “Kobani,” surrounded from the east and the west, and cut its supply lines with Hasakah and Qamishli.

‘It would free 780 PKK/PYD-occupied towns’

As it becomes only a matter of time before the launch of the Afrin operation, Jarabulus Council Member Doctor Ahmad Mahli stressed that the TAF’s operation in Syria must not be limited to Afrin, noting the need for it to extend further to include Manbij, Tal Rifaat and Tal Abyad, which can result in the liberation of 780 towns currently occupied by PKK/PYD terrorists.

“Such an operation would dislodge the PKK to the west of the Euphrates and it would free territories that span over 14,000 square kilometers. It would also destroy the U.S.’s border army project,” said Mahli.

Over 65 percent of the residents of PKK-occupied regions, 17 percent of whom are Türkmen, were forced to flee their homes to either live in border camps or Turkey, according to the former head of the Tal Abyad Local Council Akram Dada.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union and the United States. The PKK has been conducting armed violence in the southeastern part of Turkey since 1984. More than 40,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in the three-decade long conflict.
