Turkey on Wednesday rejected the claims by Greece and EU officials branding the country’s offshore drilling activities in the Eastern Mediterranean as “illegal.”
“We find the statements by Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias regarding our country’s legitimate activities in the Eastern Mediterranean as odd. The title of being 'Europe’s spoilt brat' essentially belongs to Greece,” said a statement posted on Turkey's foreign ministry website.
It also added that Turkey's Fatih ship had started drilling activities to the west of the Mediterranean island at the start of May and its Yavuz ship had recently arrived to the east of Cyprus and would conduct drilling activities.
