Turkey’s state-run aid agency provided solar panel systems to several schools in Pakistan, the group said on Thursday.

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) equipped nine schools in the remote areas of southern Sindh province.

The inauguration ceremony was held at NodoJokhio Community School located in the eastern outskirt of Karachi, the capital of Sindh, in collaboration with the Health and Nutrition Development Society (HANDS).

In attendance of the ceremony were HANDS President Abdul Ghaffar Billo and TIKA’s Karachi Coordinator Ibrahim Katrici, according to a statement from TIKA.

Billo, hailing the “remarkable” TIKA initiative, said that it will not only provide uninterrupted power supply to the schools but help students of underprivileged areas continue their studies in a much better environment.

Katirci, for his part, said: “Education is our priority in Pakistan and we would like that these children receive quality education with better facilities.”

TIKA has been active in many sectors of social welfare along with education. Recently, a free of cost color doppler ultrasound facility has been established by TIKA in Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Complex in Karachi, the country’s largest public hospital.
