The Democratic Union Party (PYD) and its military People’s Protection Units (YPG) wing has started to establish police stations beside Syria’s Euphrates River, just as it had done so in many of the regions it occupied during the Syrian civil war. The Turkish Armed Forces (TAF), which boosted security measures at border police stations, is on alert.

The terrorist organization YPG, which has controlled many points to the east of the Euphrates River since the Syrian civil war started in 2011, has now set up police stations across two Turkish police stations in Gaziantep's Karkamış province.

The YPG police stations were set up in the Zormağara village across two Turkish stations: the Köprübatı Hudut police station, and the Ziyaret village across the Ziyaret Hudut police station.

Flag, trench and sand barricades

Trenches were dug around the police stations. Positions and barricades were formed with sandbags and YPG flags were unfurled from the watch towers.

Heavy weapons, armored vehicles and fuel tankers arriving via land are allegedly distributed at points across the Euphrates River. The YPG allegedly hid U.S. weapons across 13 depots, and 2,000 American troops are actively cooperating with them.

The YPG is the armed wing of the PYD, which is the Syrian offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union and the United States.

TAF on alert

Turkish troops positioned at police stations located on the Turkey-Syria border are on alert 24 hours a day, and use thermal cameras and armored vehicles. Construction of the border wall that stared to the west of the Euphrates region are continuing along Turkey’s border toward the east. Military personnel, vehicles and ammunition are being deployed to the region from many points in Turkey.

The PKK has waged war against Turkey for more than 30 years. Since the PKK launched its terror campaign in Turkey in 1984, tens of thousands of people have been killed, including more than 1,200 since July 2015 alone. The U.S. and the coalition have largely ignored the PYD/YPG links to the PKK, continuing to send arms to the organization.
