The Turkish police on Monday detained 418 people across 29 provinces in an investigation related to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terror group, according to the Interior Ministry.

Four hundred and eighteen people have been detained across 29 provinces, primarily Diyarbakır, Mardin and Van, in an operation against the PKK/KCK terror group, said a statement posted on the ministry's Twitter account.

"Operations are ongoing," it added.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including many women and children.
