Children in a Bangladeshi orphanage are voicing their gratitude for the generous support by the people of Turkey.

Basic needs as well as the education and social necessities of some 32 children at an orphanage in the capital Dhaka are being met by Turkish donors.

The operating expenses of the Babu’l-Aman orphanage are also being met by Turkey’s Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) and Esenler Private Devran College.

“Turkey helps us so much. They [Turkish people] are looking after us just like their own children. They helped us study and took on the role of mother and father,” Abdul Ahad, a 12-year-old at the orphanage, told Anadolu Agency.

Stressing how important Turkey is for him, Farzul Vahid, also 12, says in his room he hung a picture of the Turkish and Bangladeshi flags.

“Turkey showed us that we’re not alone. We thank them so much,” said Vahid, adding that his dream is to become a teacher.

“I would like to continue my education. I want to be an engineer. I hope I can realize my dream,” Sehadet Hasan Rafi, another student, told Anadolu Agency.
