A government worker clears a partially damaged road after Typhoon Mangkhut
Three people were killed and four others injured as Typhoon Mangkhut hit northern Philippines in the early hours of Saturday morning, media reports said.
Two rescuers lost their lives in landslides on the island of Luzon and a child drowned in Marikina River in Metro Manila, the Xinhua news agency reported, citing the Philippine National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
More than 40 landslides have occurred in the Cordillera Mountains and authorities are trying to clear roadblocks.
Ricardo Jalad, head of the NDRRMC, said they feared the death toll will rise.
More than 64,000 people have been evacuated from the north to safe places.
