The UN said on Sunday that at least 600 people were killed and over 25 million others affected in flood-hit regions of South Asia.

Farhan Haq, spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, said that more than half-a-million of people have been displaced due to the heavy monsoon rains in Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Myanmar.

Highlighting that that there are still many areas inaccessible due to damaged roads and bridges, he said clean water, food and hygiene products are required especially for children.

"The governments in all four countries are leading the response with support from the UN, aid agencies and the private sector," Haq added.
