A university professor in Canada emerged victorious in a defamation lawsuit against a TV host.
Farhan Chak "succeeded in his defamation claim against former Sun Media TV host Ezra Levant," the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta said on Twitter, adding that he had been awarded CAN$60,000 ($46,907) in damages.
In 2014, Levant in his news show said Chak, a professor of political science at Qatar University, was involved in a 1993 nightclub shooting.
Chack, who was 19 at the time, was found not guilty after a trial and said the charges were leveled as a result of mistaken identity, vehemently denying any involvement.
