More coronavirus cases and fatalities were reported in Central Asian and Eurasian countries on Friday.
- Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan reported 1,414 more COVID-19 cases, bringing its total so far to 89,078, while recoveries rose 1,702 to reach 59,517.
A total of 793 virus patients have died in the Central Asian country so far, with nearly 30,000 still under treatment.
- Ukraine
Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said 1,090 more people tested positive for COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, raising the total count to 69,884.
He said 20 more fatalities pushed the death toll up to 1,693, while recoveries increased by 622 to reach 36,744.
- Kyrgyzstan
Aynura Akmatova, a Health Ministry official, said coronavirus cases and deaths rose to 35,805 and 1,378 respectively.
Over 25,520 people have recovered from the virus, Akmatova added.
- Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan’s Health Ministry reported 480 more virus cases, bringing the total to 23,558, as three more fatalities pushed the death toll to 137.
With 248 additions, the number of recoveries reached 13,680, while over 9,700 patients remain hospitalized.
- Armenia
Armenia’s COVID-19 case count rose by 354 to reach 38,550.
Ten more patients died over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 738, while 28,366 people have now recovered in the country.
Armenia has done at least 163,736 coronavirus tests so far.
- Georgia
Nine more people tested positive in Georgia over the past 24 hours, the country’s Health Ministry reported on Friday.
The new cases brought the country’s total to 1,209, including 17 fatalities and 940 recoveries.
- Worldwide
Across the world, COVID-19 has now claimed over 673,000 lives in 188 countries and regions since last December.
More than 17.31 million cases have been reported worldwide, with the US, Brazil, India, and Russia currently the worst-hit countries, according to figures compiled by the US’ Johns Hopkins University.
