Ancak, bazı yıllarda bu listeye, Akademi üyelerinin adı üzerinde önceden uzlaştıkları kıdemli bir sinemacıya sunulan “yaşam boyu başarı ödülü” de eklenmektedir.
80'inci Oscar ödülleri, 24 Şubat 2008 Pazar akşamı Hollywood'daki Kodak Tiyatrosu'nda yapılacak bir törenle sahiplerine dağıtılacak.
