Once again a perverted murderer. This time he is not from the very developed Northern European countries such as Sweden or Norway which are well-known for high suicide rates. He is from the very developed U.S. which the world, including some of our intellectuals, considers exemplary… This was done by another perverted murderer who raided a church of a town located in Texas and killed 26 people, including women and children, with automatic weapons and wounded as many…
Here is Trump’s statements afterward:
“It's a very, very sad event… This was a very deranged individual, a lot of problems over a long period of time… We have a lot of mental health problems in our country, as do other countries. But this isn't a ‘guns’ situation… Fortunately, somebody else had a gun that was shooting in the opposite direction.”
In other words, the president says: Those problems happen in countries such as ours where many mentally unstable people live. However, it is an individual mental health issue, not a social one. Fortunately, gun sales are permitted so that someone else who also had a gun was able to stop this insane person…
The U.S. gun industry cannot be more overtly “protected…”
We think the other striking aspect of the incident is this: President Trump did not cut his trip short despite this massacre. He continued his trip in Japan…
God forbid but what if a similar incident had happened to us? What if a murderer had raided a mosque and killed 26 people? And if the president had been visiting another country, how do you think he would have acted?
He would probably cut his trip short and go there immediately, visit the homes of children and adults, express his condolences and most probably give instructions to declare national mourning…
That is why, it is not easy for the West and those who look at Turkey though this world’s eyes, established on money and interests, to understand us…
What I wonder most is how Turks, who throw themselves at countries such as England and the U.S. after being effected by fake statements such as “There is no safety of life and property in Turkey,” react to violence and perversion incidents that they usually witness there and what kind of mood they are in. May God make it easy for them…
President Erdoğan introduced the new AKM [Atatürk Culture Center] yesterday… It was one of the historic speeches because once again, the President was touching upon the issue of culture, the soft belly of Turkey on its way to development.
Secondly, the new structure, which is contemporary and benefits from the digital culture, both preserves the old silhouette partially and has been expanded on a very large area for multiple purposes…
“The new building will become one of the largest opera buildings in the world. There will be a concert hall for 800 people, a theatre hall, a chamber theatre, libraries, cafes and restaurants. It will be a building that we can use 365 days a year.
There is another important point. Operas are usually the places where rich families go. But operas and ballets should be places where all of us can go. We will turn the entire facade into a giant screen so that events going on inside the building can be displayed outside… It is going to be the next center of a lively Istanbul. The top floor of the building, I think, should be the most beautiful restaurant of Istanbul.”
Upon this significant announcement in which the president said that Taksim square would be completely cleared of vehicle traffic, it is natural that all eyes are turned toward the opposition.
