Now you say something for Turkey!

Turkey is under siege. There is a regional wave of chaos being pushed into the country, while all the dynamics and fault lines on the inside are being activated. Our cities and villages are being threatened and our social peace destroyed.

The rise, confrontation, gaining power inside, the spreading presence outside within the last decade led to new threats and created new enemies.

Terror has been kindled again on the inside. This time it is beyond terror in the strict sense; it has been turned into an intervention, an attempt at invasion that will impact Turkey's existence, unity and future plans.

In addition to terror and a new attempt at invasion, a kind of “domestic invasion” lobby is formed. These circles have taken a position under the political opposition pretext that will shake the integrity of the country and threaten its future. Such that, they have come to look to even terrorist organizations for help for the sake of a showdown.

Anatolia, which has for centuries managed to stay united and standing despite all conflicts, is for the first time making tracks toward an irrevocable disintegration.

The chaos and conflict of identities in the region is being spread into Turkey; the uniting power of our old cities is being weakened with the differences between identities being turned into reason for conflict.

In addition to ethnic identities, sectarian differences are also being used to form new fronts. All this is being managed through terrorist organizations which are being advocated today as political hope, whereas in the past they used to be called “terrorists.”

What we are witnessing is a very deep social separation. The next step to this separation is fronts and clashes. Such frequent use of the term “civil war” is not good news.

Those who want to make a Syria, Ukraine, Lebanon or an Iraq out of Turkey, have started to respond to the state of confrontation we reached in the last decade with confrontation.

This very serious threat is growing fast and taking hostage our minds and country. Foreseeing the point this threat can reach in a couple of years is quite concerning. The extraordinary disunity among the society and political circles has gone far beyond a lack of communication. The idea to live together, the idea of a common country, a common nation, a common future has become weakened. Our sensibility to be happy together, mourn together and be in solidarity in the event of grief, is worn out.

Outside of Turkey, all countries, particularly the ones in our own region, are in one way or another being pushed to take an anti-Turkey position, sabotaging efforts of bilateral and regional connection. An opposition started to form in the entire region from Egypt to Iran, similar to the disunity within the country. Without social solidarity, there is no way to overcome the threat we are facing both inside and outside with power or morale.

Our region is rapidly turning from states into organizations, from countries into city states, to garrison states. This is the point to which the wave of chaos will bring us in perhaps five to 10 years. The same scenario has today started to force Turkey's borders. The social separation within Turkey and the separation of the region seem to overlap perfectly and complement one another.

We have become a country that won't talk, that can't talk to one another in even the same neighborhood, at the same workplace or same school. This is leading to an intense accumulation of stress and it is not possible to determine where and how this stress will be released.

The disintegration we are witnessing both within and without, is feeding on large-scale attacks and sensations like the heinous attack in Ankara. All this is a kind of internal division for Turkey, a kind of social and mental disintegration.

The danger is too close and greater than imagined.

This country has been home for us all since World War I. It is the last safe haven, the last fortress standing for those who have nowhere else to go. If this fortress is burned down, if this safe haven is destroyed, there will be no safe ground left for not only us, but for the entire region.

If this fortress is burned down, nobody will win. We will all lose, we will all collapse. This is why the country's backbone is being targeted first. The spirit that resisted World War I, the Mongol Invasion and the Crusades is being targeted.

It is the duty of us all to understand and identify what the new threats are. If these threats are endangering us all regardless of our political identities, then we all need to take action in unity.

We need to develop a new language, a new stance and expand on what we have in common.

As Yeni Şafak, with this responsibility, we started a new call. We tried to get a word from everybody, who we believe have common sense, for the sake of this country, regardless of their political views or their stance.

Saying, “There is no other Turkey,” “Come and join this call,” we asked the prominent figures of the country to have a say. We opened our pages to their calls.

Come, let's share this concern together. Let us seek a ground that will enable us to talk once again. Let us strengthen our common areas as well as hope against disintegration.

You have the say. We invite all to this call...

We are calling everybody to pay their dues to this country...

We are siding with Turkey!
