Unfortunately, we are a country that is used to terror acts with 40 years of experience. Nevertheless, it was quite surprising to hear that Russian Ambassador to Ankara Andrey Karlov was killed, while we could not yet recover from the shock, mourning and sadness of two big suicide bombings and what they took away from us. This was huge. Those ascriptions are true; like the effect created by the assassination of Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand, which sparked World War I, this assassination largely had the possibility of first pitting Turkey and Russia against each other and then expanding battlefronts with a butterfly effect, as far as parties in the region are concerned. Fortunately, our worst fears did not come true.
