Confidence in Turkey’s economy has advanced in April, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).

The Economic Confidence Index rose by 3.6 percent to 99.5 points in the month from 96 points in March, TurkStat said in a statement Thursday.

"This increase in economic confidence index stemmed from the increases in consumer, retail trade and services confidence indices," it said.

The sub-index tracking consumer confidence soared by 5.1 percent month-on-month to 71.3 points in April.

Retail trade confidence index was second best performed sector in the month, surging to 101.6 points, up by 4.1 percent compared to last month.

The sub-index for services climbed 3 percent month-on-month to 99.9 points in the current month.

However, the real sector confidence and construction confidence indices both slipped by 0.2 percent to 106.3 percent and 85.7 percent respectively in the same period.
