Two PKK terrorists were killed during an ongoing anti-terrorism operation in southeastern Sirnak province on Wednesday, according to the regional governor’s office.

The joint operation, which began on July 21, was carried out by the gendarmerie in Sirnak in cooperation with gendarme units from Hakkari and Van provinces.

The terrorists were killed in Farasin-Beytussebap region, the statement from the governor’s office said.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.

Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of some 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, including a number of women and children.
