Anti-drug operation in Adana: 31 arrested

An anti-drug operation launched by 1,000 police in Turkey's Adana province saw 31 drug dealers arrested

Turkish police conducted a large-scale operation with 1,000 officers on drug dealers in the Ceyhan district of southern Adana province this morning. Thirty one suspected drug traffickers were arrested during the anti-drug operation carried out by Ceyhan Police Department to target syndicated drug trafficking activities. The operation backed by a helicopter and five dogs has simultaneously been launched at 50 pre-determined addresses. During the operation, police seized pistols, documents related to the organization, drugs and smuggled cigarettes.



Investigations into all arrested individuals are ongoing.



According to a report of the Turkish Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction (TUBIM), 98,933 drug-related cases occurred throughout Turkey and 148,121 suspects were arrested in relation to these cases. When the crime-related distribution of all 148,121 suspects arrested in Turkey in 2013 is analyzed, 112,505 suspects were arrested for the purchase/acceptance/possession of drugs with the intent to use, 31,183 suspects for the production and trade of drugs, five suspects for facilitating the use of drugs.
