Turkish police and the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) discovered that one of the four terrorists who were arrested after leaving a bomb-laden vehicle and motorcycle in the car park of a shopping mall in Istanbul was the bomb-maker for Daesh terrorist organization.

Authorities reached new details regarding the counterterrorism operation launched by the police and MİT on Oct. 28. The explosives seized in the operation were discovered to have been prepared by Can Y., a Daesh terrorist who was sent to Istanbul to organize an attack.

Attack in Istanbul foiled

In the aftermath of the successful operation on Oct. 28, Turkish police and MİT launched a second joint operation to the terrorist organization on Oct. 29. A possible attack was foiled after 56 bombs were found in a house in Istanbul’s Başakşehir district. Four Daesh terrorists, two of whom were women, were also spotted on camera while fleeing after burning terror cells in the Istanbul districts of Esenyurt and Arnavutköy, attempting to destroy evidence.

Turkish police remand 283 Daesh terrorists

The Police General Directorate announced that 283 suspects were taken into custody and 66 hand-made explosives were seized in nationwide operations targeting the Daesh terrorist organization.

Of those captured, 96 were Turkish nationals and 187 were foreign nationals. The operations were conducted between Oct. 22 and Nov. 1 across 25 provinces.

During the raids, eight guns, 405 pistol cartridges, three shotguns, 39 shotguns cartridges, one machete and multiple digital documents were seized.
