Turkish foreign minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said Tuesday morning that Turkey's findings indicate that the Assad regime still has their hands on chemical weapons.

Speaking to local TV channel TRT Haber in Italy, Cavusoglu also said a transition government was urgently needed in Syria and that risks of chemical weapons would continue as long as Syrian President Bashar al-Assad remained in power

Çavuşoğlu's statement comes as the global leader seeks support to isolate Syria's Assad, after last week's deadly chemical massacre in the northern Idlib town of Khan Shaykhun, which killed some 100 civilians, the majority of whom were women and children, and injured 500 others.

In the aftermath of the chemical attack, the U.S. launched an airstrike that targeted the Shayrat air base, from which the helicopters carrying the nerve gas are known to have departed from.
