Barzani and Erdoğan meet in Istanbul

The Prime Minister of the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) of Iraqi Kurdistan will discuss eliminating PKK camps

Nerchervan Barzani, the Prime Minister of the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) of Iraqi Kurdistan, met with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Istanbul on Friday.

Sources from the presidency confirmed that he wwas received in the Mabeyn Köşk of the Yıldız Palace on Friday afternoon.

In the meeting, the leaders allegedly discussed Turkey’s operations at eliminating the terrorist organization Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) camps in Sinjar.

Turkey and Iraqi Kurdistan are against the terrorist organization PKK’s camps in the region.

Barzani pointed out that new operations would be carried out against the PKK.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union and the United States.

The PKK has been conducting armed violence in the southeastern part of Turkey since 1984. More than 40,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in the three-decade long conflict.
