Security forces detained a foreign national who was trying to enter curfew area in the southeastern Turkish province of Diyarbakır on Saturday.

A British national was detained at a checkpoint outside the curfew area while attempting to enter the restricted area.

The woman, who was carrying a laptop and a camera, reportedly told security personnel that she wanted to enter to visit the area.

She was taken to the district police headquarters for further interrogation.

As curfew has entered its 25th day in Diyarbakır's Sur district, Turkish security forces continue the operation to secure public order and safety in the area.

Sur district in Diyarbakır is situated about 900 kilometers southeast of the Turkish capital, Ankara, and about 1500 kilometers from Istanbul.

Following the recent terror conducted by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants, who dug ditches, planted roadside mines, vandalized public buildings, including hospitals, schools and libraries, and kidnapped children, Turkey launched a wide range “sweeping operation" to clean the area of terrorists.

Clashes between security units and PKK terrorists has reportedly continued as civilians are prevented from entering the area.
