Answering questions, President Erdoğan remarked on trading in local currencies to tackle the volatility on the country's economy:
“I talked to Mr. Putin and we have agreed on using local currencies in bilateral trade. I told the Chinese leaders the same thing, too. They also consider it favorably. We can make it widespread. We can therefore lift the pressures on our currencies with those bold steps. I can't help telling you one point: my people should not give credit to the interest rate lobby anymore.''
''I appreciate my people's endeavor, but they should put forth more efforts,'' President Erdoğan added about the campaign to strengthen the Turkish lira by converting foreign exchange into Turkish lira.
Commenting on the latest developments in the constitutional amendment package upon a question, he replied, “There is a legislative process: a proposal will be submitted to the parliament and then it would be accepted."
''Now, two parties' leaders in the parliament have come to terms with each other on the constitutional amendment proposal. Now it is going to be discussed in the parliamentary commission and get through the plenary session. Then, I guess a packet with 20 articles will be consigned to me to sign after some necessary interpretations. Thus, I will evaluate and I will bring it to our nation with a referendum on the constitutional change without delay,'' he explained.
''If the Parliamentary commission investigating coups completed its report regarding the July 15 coup bid as soon as possible, I think it would be better to take further steps in eliminating terrorists.''
