Iran military chief’s visit to Turkey

Erdoğan also commented on Iranian General Mohammad Bagheri’s visit to Turkey.

Baqeri met with Erdoğan, his Turkish counterpart and Turkey's Defence Minister Nurettin Canikli in what was the first visit by an Iranian chief of staff since the 1979 revolution.

The president said during Bagheri’s visit, joint action against terrorist organizations was discussed.

“Joint action against terrorist groups that have become a threat is always on the agenda. This issue has been discussed between the two military chiefs, and I discussed more broadly how this should be carried out. A more effective fight against the terrorist PKK and PJAK groups is possible through joint action with Iran,” Erdoğan said.
